[leukocyte tyrosine kinase] LTK, known also as TYK1 [tyrosine kinase-1] is a tyrosine kinase the cDNA of which was isolated initially from a cDNA library prepared from mouse pre-B-lymphocytes (Ben-Neriah and Bauskin, 1988). Sequence analysis of the gene reveals similarities with several tyrosine kinase receptor genes of the insulin receptor family.
The protein is a transmembrane protein that lacks an extracellular domain and may function as a signal transduction subunit for one or more of the hematopoietic receptors.
