LT-alpha

[lymphotoxin-alpha] This factor is identical with TNF-beta (see also: TNF) (Aggarwal et al, 1985). It has been suggested that LT be renamed LT-alpha following identification of another protein, LT-beta, which forms heteromeric complexes with the original lymphotoxin (see also: lymphotoxin-alpha[1]beta[2], lymphotoxin-alpha[2]beta[1]).

Based on homology with other members of the TNF ligand protein superfamily the new designation is TNFSF1 [TNF ligand superfamily member 1].
