[lymphotoxin] This factor derived from 1788 lymphoblastoid cell line (Aggarwal et al, 1985) is identical with TNF-beta (see also: TNF) and is being referred to also as TNFSF1 [TNF ligand superfamily member 1].

It has been suggested that LT be renamed LT-alpha (abbr. LTA) following identification of another protein, LT-beta (abbr. LTB), which forms heteromeric complexes with the original lymphotoxin.
