LATS1
[large tumor suppressor-1] This is one mammalian homolog (Tao et al, 1999) of a tumor suppressor gene identified originally as a mutation on Drosophila melanogaster, also termed warts (Xu et al, 1995). The human homolog has been called also h-warts (Nishiyama et al, 1999) and is being referred to also as warts-1. For a second ortholog see also: LATS2.
The gene encodes a putative serine/threonine kinase. Human LATS1 and the fly protein share 74 % amino acid sequence identity in the C-terminal kinase domain.
