[large tumor suppressor-2] This is one mammalian ortholog (Yabuta et al, 2000) of the warts tumor suppressor gene identified originally as a mutation on Drosophila melanogaster (Xu et al, 1995). Mouse LATS2 mRNA is expressed ubiquitously. Human LATS2 mRNA expression is enhanced in skeletal muscle and heart. The protein is being referred to also as kpm [Kinase phosphorylated during mitosis].
