[Kit(W-sh) mouse]
also: Kit(sh/sh) mice. These mice are being used as a tool for the study mast cell functions because they are deficient in mast cells (for alternative mouse strains with mast cell deficiency see also: mast cell-deficient mice).
Kit(W-sh) mice are sometimes referred to as sash mice (named after a coat colour phenotype with a white sash around the midsection). The original mice with the W-sash allele, W-sh at the white spotting locus that contains the Kit gene come from an inbred C3H/HeH × 101/H mouse strain (Lyon and Glenister, 1982).
