[KDAMP, keratin-derived antimicrobial peptide]
[keratin-derived antimicrobial peptides] This term has been coined by Tam et al (2012) to refer to Glycine-rich C-terminal fragments derived from human cytokeratin 6A (keratin 6A; approved gene symbol KRT6A), the dominant cytokeratin 6A isoform among at least 6 closely related cytokeratin 6A protein isoforms expressed and differentially regulated in skin tissue samples and in cultured epithelial cell line and within and between epithelial tissue types (Takahashi et al, 1995).
Lee et al (2016) have renamed these proteolytic fragments, referring to them as KAMPs [
