JAGL1 |
butyrophilin subfamily 3 member A1 |

The cDNA for this gene has been assembled by Luo et al (1997) from from overlapping cDNA clones isolated from human expressed sequence tag sequences resembling that of Serrate (see: jagged), the gene for a ligand of Drosophila melanogaster Notch. Deng et al (2000) have mapped the human gene (30 kb; 26 exons) to chromosome 14q32. The approved gene symbol is JAG2. The gene is known also as SER2 [serrate-2].
In the mouse, Jagged-2 mRNA is most abundant in heart, lung, thymus, skeletal muscle, brain, and testis. Jagged-2 is coepressed together with Notch-1
