[junction-enriched and -associated protein] This protein has been identified by Nishimura et al (2002) as a component of tight junctions in exocrine cells. Endogenous JEAP has been shown to localize to tight junctions of exocrine cells including pancreas, submandibular gland, lacrimal gland, and sublingual gland, but not at tight junctions of epithelial cells of small intestine or endothelial cells of blood vessels.
The protein has been described independently as Angiomotin-like-1 (AmotL-1).
