[Junctional adhesion molecule 1] This human protein, called also JAM-A [Junctional adhesion molecule A] or JCAM, is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily (Naik et al, 2001). It is the human counterpart of murine JAM (Liu et al, 2000). The protein is known also as Platelet F11 receptor, a receptor which binds a functional monoclonal antibody that causes cell activation of platelets when cross-linked with the Fc-gamma R2 receptor (Gupta et al, 2000; Sobocka et al, 2004).
