[insulin-like-6] INSL6 is a secreted protein. The human and mouse INSL6 gene has been cloned by Hsu (1999) by virtue of sequence homology to insulin and relaxin. The authors have referred to the factor as RIF1 [Relaxin/insulin-like factor 1], and reported expression restricted to interstitial cells in mouse testis. Lok et al (2000), who also cloned and characterized INSL6 reported localization primarily in rat and rhesus seminiferous tubules.
