IL26

[interleukin-26] This is the approved gene symbol for a protein identified originally as AK155 (Knappe et al, 2000). IL26 is a sequence homolog of IL10 (25 % identical and 47 % similar to IL10) and thus is a member of the IL10 family of cytokines (or the IL20 family, if structural features are taken into account). The IL26 gene maps to chromosome 12q15 in the vicinity of the IFN-gamma gene and the gene encoding IL22 (IL-TIF) (Dumoutier et al, 2000).
