IFNL4

[interferon-lambda-4; IFN-lambda-4] IFNL4 is an inducible human protein of 179 amino acids related to, but distinct from, known interferons and other class 2 cytokines (Prokunina-Olsson et al, 2013). The open reading frame of the IFNL4 transcript is located upstream of IFNL3 (IL28B) on chromosome 19q13.13, and is created by a common deletion frameshift allele of ss469415590, which is a dinucleotide variant strongly linked with rs12979860, a genetic marker strongly associated with hepatitis C virus clearance. IFNL4 is associated with impaired clearance of hepatitis C virus.
