[infected cell protein 0] (Herpes simplex virus ICP0 protein) ICP0, called also IE110 [immediate early protein 110]) (Herpes simplex virus IE110 protein) is a protein encoded in herpesvirus genomes (Perry et al, 1986). It is expressed immediately after infection (Honess et al, 1974). The protein undergoes extensive posttranslational modification and yields different isoforms that appear to be generated at different times during the infection cycle (Advani et al, 2001).
ICP0 regulates viral gene expression (Cai and Schaffer, 1992) and acts as a transactivator of gene expression
