[inducible T-cell co-stimulator; also: Inducible Costimulator] Buonfiglio et al (2000) have reported that the T-cell activation molecule H4 is identical with ICOS. The rat homolog of the protein has been described as AILIM [Activation-inducible lymphocyte immunomediatory molecule]. The mouse homolog of ICOS, which shares 69 % amino acid identity with ICOS, has been identified by Yoshinaga et al (1999), who named it Crp1 [CD28-related protein-1]. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD278.
