This bioactive peptide with the sequence DEQHLETELHTLTSVLTANGFQ has been identified by Zheng et al (2016) in a screen for anti-inflammatory peptides from a Hydrophis cyanocinctus venom gland T7 phage display library. The peptide exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity in vitro and in vivo. It reduces cytotoxicity mediated by TNF-alpha in L929 fibroblasts. Hydrostatin-SN1 shows selective binding for the TNF-alpha receptor TNFR1 and effectively inhibits the interaction between TNF-alpha and TNFR1. The peptide
