This bioactive peptide with the sequence DEQHLETELHTLTSVLTANGFQ (Asp-Glu-Gln-His-Leu-Glu-Thr-Glu-Leu-His-Thr-Leu-Thr-Ser-Val-Leu-Thr-Ala-Asn-Gly-Phe-Gln) has been identified by Zheng et al (2016) in a screen for anti-inflammatory peptides from a Hydrophis cyanocinctus venom gland T7 phage display library. The peptide exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity in vitro and in vivo. It reduces cytotoxicity mediated by TNF-alpha in L929 fibroblasts.
