Hucolin

A cortisol-binding factor isolated from human plasma. The protein has a molecular mass of approximately 200 kDa and consists of 35 kDa and 75 kDa subunits. The sequence of the N-terminus of the 35 kDa subunit shows 88 % sequence identity with the N-terminal region of Ficolin-beta (see: Ficolin), a binding protein for transforming growth factor-beta-1 (see: TGF-beta) purified from porcine uterus. Hucolin is considered to be the human counterpart of the porcine factor.
