[Hepatitis C virus nonstructural protein 5B; HCV NS5B protein; NS5B protein] This protein is a non-structural protein contained within the viral polyprotein encoded by the genome of the positive-strand RNA virus Hepatitis C virus. The protein is a viral RNA polymerase (HCV replicase, HCV RNA-dependent RNA polymerase), the central catalytic enzyme in HCV RNA replication (Behrens et al, 1996)
