Harriottins comprise a family of putative antimicrobial peptides derived from Histone H2A and identified in the sicklefin chimaera, Neoharriotta pinnata. Harriottins comprise Harriottin-1 (52 amino acids) and two subfragments of it termed Harriottin-2 (40 amino acids) Harriottin-3 (21 amino acids). All three peptides show physicochemical properties and molecular structures in agreement with the characteristic features of antimicrobial peptides and might play a role in innate immunity of sicklefin chimaera (Sathyan N et al, 2019). For bioactive fragments of histone proteins see also: HDAPs [Histone-derived antimicrobial peptides].
