[Heat shock protein beta-6; heat shock protein B6] HSPB6 is the approved gene symbol for a heat shock protein that has been cloned by Bukach et al (2004) as Hsp20 [heat shock protein 20]. HSPB6 protein belongs to a family of small (15-30 kDa) heat shock proteins, a highly conserved family of molecular chaperones, the expression of which is upregulated transiently in many tissue types following stressful stimuli (see: Garrido et al, 2012, for overview).
