[hepatopoietin Cn] HPPCn is a protein of 30 kDa obtained from a crude extract of calf liver hepatic stimulating substance. The protein is the same as HSS [hepatic stimulator substance] and thus is ALR [Augmenter of liver regeneration]. The protein is a flavin-dependent sulfhydryl oxidase with cytochrome C reductase activity and is being referred to also as FAD-linked sulfhydryl oxidase ALR and EC1.8.3.2) (Farrell SR and Thorpe, 2005; Lee J et al, 2000).
