[His-Pro-His-Pro-His-Leu-Ser-Phe] This peptide has been identified by Gómez-Ruiz JA et al (2007). It is found in ovine milk and is an enzymatic hydrolysis product of casein-kappa. The peptide has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of ACE [angiotensin-converting enzyme; angiotensin-1 converting enzyme]. Oral administration of the peptide to spontaneously hypertensive rats shows clear decreases in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure (Miguel et al, 2010).
