[hemofiltrate CC-Chemokine-2] HCC2 is a member of the group of cytokines known as chemokines. It was discovered as a gene adjacent to HCC1. It is referred to also as NCC3, MIP-5 [macrophage inflammatory protein-5], and MRP-2. HCC2 has been renamed CCL15 (see also: SCY family of cytokines for a systematic nomenclature). The protein has been synthesized chemically by Escher et al, 1999). Sticht et al (1999) have repored the three-dimensional structure of HCC-2, which shows that the protein exhibits the same structural elements as the other chemokines.
