Galectin-9 is sometimes being referred to as Tim-3L [Tim-3 ligand] as it binds Tim-3 [T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3; T-cell membrane protein 3]. The protein has been identified independently as HOM-HD-21.
