[G-protein-coupled receptor-9] GPR9 is a human gene cloned by PCR from a human genomic DNA library (Marchese et al, 1995. GPR9 is located on human chromosome 8p11.2-p12 and encodes a receptor that shares highest identity with the IL8 receptors and the receptor encoded by the gene GPR2, which also encodes a receptor resembling the IL8 receptor. GPR9 is a receptor belonging to the family of receptors for chemokines. It is identical with CXCR3 (CD183)
