GPR39
[G-protein-coupled receptor-39] The gene encoding this receptor has been identified by McKee et al (1997). The receptor exists in two isoforms; the full-length receptor, GPR39-1a, and a truncated transmembrane domain isoform, GPR39-1b. These alternatively splice GPR39 variants are concerved in various species such as teleost fish and mammals such as human, mouse, rat, and chicken (Zhang Y et al, 2008; Egerod et al, 2007). Egerod et al (2007) have reported that GPR39-1a is expressed in white but not brown adipose tissue and is down-regulated during adipocyte differentiation of fibroblasts.
