Following the identification of Fetuin-B, Fetuin has been renamed Fetuin-A (abbr. also FETUA). The protein was identified originally as a new fetal plasma protein in fetal and newborn calf serum (Pedersen, 1944) and detected subsequently also in sheep, pig, goat, and humans, rats, and mice (Dziegielewska et al, 1992).
