FSP27
[fat-specific protein 27] The cDNA encoding this protein of 27 kDa has been identified as a mRNA the expression of which is induced during the differentiation of the adipogenic cedll line TA1 (Danesch et al, 1992). This murine protein is homologous to human CIDE-3 (Liang et al, 2003).
Puri et al (2007) have reported that FSP27 is an adipocyte lipid droplet protein that enhances triglyceride storage and is important in lipid droplet formation. FSP27 contributes to efficient energy storage in murine white adipocytes by promoting the formation of unilocular lipid droplets (Nishino et al, 2008). Loss of FSP27 can impede adipocyte maturation (Li F et al, 2010).
