FGF23

(approved gene symbol) [Fibroblast growth factor-23] Murine FGF23 (251 amino acids) possesses a hydrophobic amino terminus (approximately 24 amino acids), which is a typical signal sequence. Mouse and human FGF23 (251 amino acids) are highly identical (approximately 72 % amino acid identity). FGF23 is most similar to FGF21 (approximately 24 % amino acid identity) and FGF19 (approximately 22 % amino acid identities) (Yamashita et al, 2000). The human FGF23 gene maps to chromosome 12p13 linked to human FGF6 gene.
