FGF13

(approved gene symbol) [Fibroblast growth factor-13] This protein is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of proteins. It is the new name given to a member of a family of proteins identified originally as being related to fibroblast growth factors (FHF-2, see: FHF). Various splice variants have been described (see: FHF) and these are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. The structure of the FGF13 gene, which extends over approximately 200 kb, has been reported by Gecz et al (1999).
