[EDA-like cell death trigger] abbr. egr. This Drosophila melanogaster protein (409 amino acids) is a member of the TNF ligand superfamily. Eiger is encoded by the CG12919 gene and is a type 2 transmembrane protein with a C-terminal TNF homology domain. It is expressed predominantly in the nervous system (Igaki et al, 2002). Eiger is the only TNF family member in Drosophila melanogaster. In databank, the sequence is known also as darth (Chaudhary PM, direct submission; AY115551).
