Ebola Virus Delta Peptide

This peptide of 40 amino acids is the product of variant envelope glycoprotein production, which occurs via differential mRNA editing (Sanchez et al, 1996; Volchkova et al, 2015). It corresponds to the carboxyl-terminal 40 amino-acid sequence of the soluble secreted form of the glycoprotein (Volchkova et al, 1999), which is the product of the nonstructural Ebola Virus PreSGP [Ebola Virus Pre-small/secreted Glycoprotein] that also encodes another pathogenicity factor (see: Ebola Virus sGP [Ebola Virus Small Glycoprotein] that itself is a secreted pathogenicity factor.
