ERIS

[endoplasmic reticulum interferon stimulator] This protein has been identified by Sun et al (2009). In mouse tissues, ERIS is highly expressed in thymus and spleen and modestly expressed in lung and kidney.

ERIS is a strong stimulator of type 1 interferon production (IFN-alpha, IFN-beta) and plays a pivotal role in response to both non-self-cytosolic RNA and dsDNA. ERIS resides exclusively on the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. ERIS dimerizes on innate immune challenges, which leads to strong and fast interferon induction. Suppression of ERIS reduces IFN-beta induction and increases susceptibility to viral infection. ERIS has been shown to interact with TBK1 [TANK-binding kinase-1] and IKK-epsilon, but not IRF3 ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
