[E cell]
This term has multiple meanings:
(-1-) This cell type of unknown function has been described by Weiber et al (1997, 1998). These cells are usually solitary cells found in the antrum part of the stomach in a zone one-third up from the bottom of the gastric glands, where gastric endocrine cells are located. The majority of the E-cells contain chromogranin A and gastrin. The cells also express PSP94 [prostatic secretory protein-94] (Beta-microseminoprotein).
