[Decidual suppressor factor] Postimplantation murine decidual tissue from allopregnant C3H mice has been shown to release in vitro a potent immunosuppressive factor (Clark et al, 1990). It is involved probably in the local suppression of maternal immune reactions against the embryo by hormonally induced decidual suppressor cells and by molecules released from the placenta.
DSF is secreted into the conditioned medium by a population of small lymphocytic decidual suppressor cells. This factor is neutralized by antibodies directed against TGF-beta-2 (see: TGF-beta).
