[Death associated protein 3] The gene encoding this protein was identified together with others (see: DAP-1, DAP-5) by screening cell populations transfected with an antisense cDNA library for their ability to survive in the continuous presence of IFN-gamma (Kissil et al, 1995; Kissil and Kimchi, 1998). In some databanks the term ionizing radiation resistance conferring protein is given, referring to a protein involved in radiation resistance in cervical carcinoma cells (Henning, 1993).
DAP-3 is a nucleotide-binding protein of 46 kDa that functions as a mediator of cell death by apoptosis induced by IFN-gamma
