CGKRK

(Cys-Gly-Lys-Arg-Lys) This peptide has been identified as a cell homing peptide by screening for peptides homing to blood vessels in a mouse model of HPV16-induced epidermal carcinogenesis (Hoffman et al, 2003). After intravenous injection CGKRK recognizes endothelial cells in vessels in most tumors but not those in normal tissues (Hoffman et al, 2003).

Agemy et al (2011) have reported the use of nanoparticles consisting of a construct containing CGKRK fused to the pro-apoptotic KLAKLAK sequence and, in addition, containing iron oxid for imaging purposes.
