CD57 represents a carbohydrate epitope that contains a sulfoglucuronyl residue (Mitsumoto et al, 2000). The enzyme processing this epitope is known as GlcAT-P [glucuronosyltransferase P] (Mitsumoto et al, 2000). The approved gene symbol is B3GAT1 [beta-1,3-glucuronyltransferase 1]. Other names for this enzyme are Galactosylgalactosylxylosylprotein 3-beta-glucuronosyltransferase 1, UDP-GlcUA-glycoprotein beta-1,3-glucuronyltransferase
