This protein is identical with Platelet glycoprotein Ib-beta [glycoprotein Ib-beta]; abbr. GPIb-beta, GP1BB. Another designation is CD42b-beta. The antigen is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes.
This platelet transmembrane protein (López et al, 1988; Canfield et al, 1987) constitutes the beta subunit of platelet glycoprotein Ib, a disulfide-linked alpha/beta heterodimer (Luo et al, 2007). The gene and cDNA have been cloned (Yagi et al, 1994; Kelly et al, 1994)
