[CD20-like] The approved gene symbol is MS4A3 [Membrane-spanning 4-domains subfamily A member 3]. The cDNA encoding this protein has been identified by Adra et al (1994) during a screen of a K562 cell cDNA library for genes expressed in hematopoietic cells. Adra et al (1994) have referred to the gene as HTm4 [Hematopoietic-specific transmembrane protein 4]. The deduced protein of 214 amino acids is a four-transmembrane protein that shares approximately 20 % sequence identity with CD20 and is related also to the beta subunit of the high-affinity receptor for IgE (Fc-epsilon-R1-beta).
