CD173

[CD173(+), CD173(-),

Other designations:

Blood group H type 2 (H2)

Blood group O

CD173 (monofucosylated) is structurally related to CD15 (monofucosylated), and CD174 (difucosylated). These three antigens have a common precursor chain (Gal-beta-(1-4)-GlcNAc-) that is a substrate for fucosyltransferases (Oriol et al, 1992). The key enzyme for generating CD173 is fucosyltransferase FUT1, which is expressed in immature hematopoietic cells but absent in mature lymphocytes. Monoclonal antibodies A46-B/B10, A63-D/B12, and BE2 are mono-specific for CD173, whereas antibodies A51-B/A6, Bric 231 recognize CD173 and CD174 (Cao et al, 2001).

The CD173 oligosaccharide antigen (Fucose-alpha-(1-2)-Gal-beta-(1-4)-GlcNAcbeta-) is expressed on ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
