[C cell]
This term has multiple meanings:
(-1-) This term is used in reproductive biology to denote cytotrophoblasts (villous C cells; villous trophoblasts; villous cytotrophoblasts) as opposed to S-cells (villous syncytiotrophoblasts) and to distinguish these from extravillous trophoblasts (abbr. EVT). Note: don't confuse with C-cells, which are endocrine cells secreting the hormone calcitonin.
