[BAX-interacting factor-1] Bif-1 is an evolutionarily conserved cytoplasmic protein that contains a C-terminal SH3 domain. The protein does not share any other significant homology with members of the BCL2 family of proteins. The gene has been cloned by Pierrat et al (2001) and Cuddeback et al (2001), who referred to it as Bif-1. The approved gene symbol is SH3GLB1 [SH3-domain GRB2-like endophilin B1]. Modregger et al (2003) have cloned several variants of the mouse gene and referred to the protein as endophilin B1 as the N-terminal domain of endophilin B1 shares highest similarity with the lipid-binding and lipid-modifying domain
