Human Betatrophin is encoded by C19orf80 [chromosome 19 open reading frame 80]. In databanks, TD26 is used as a synonym for Betatrophin and refers to mouse gene Gm6484.
Betatrophin is a hormone identified by Yi et al (2013) in a mouse model of insulin resistance that induces dramatic pancreatic Beta-cell proliferation and Beta-cell mass expansion.
