[bovine myeloid antimicrobial peptide-27] BMAP-27 (GRFKRFRKKFKKLFKKLSPVIPLLHLG) has been identified by Skerlavaj et al (1996). BMAP-28 corresponds to the 28 C-terminal amino acids of a bovine congener of one of the antimicrobial cathelicidins identified in several mammalian species. Human LL-37 and bovine BMAP-27 are homologs, but have diverged notably in terms of sequence similarity.
