BGP-1

[biliary glycoprotein 1]; also BGP [biliary glycoprotein].

BGP-1 is a glycoprotein detected originally in normal human bile (Svenberg, 1976). The cDNA has been cloned by Hinoda et al, 1988). Mice contain two genes, termed Bgp1 and Bgp2. Mahrenholz et al (1993) have reported that Biliary glycoprotein 1 is identical with NCA-160 (see: NCA).

The BGP-1 protein exists in various spliced isoforms (McCuaig K et al, 1993; Barnett et al, 1993; Kuroki et al, 1991; Watt et al, 1994; Teixeira AM et al 1994) and protein sequence databanks list at least 11 different isoforms (for ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
