[bone-forming peptide-3] this designation refers to a synthetic peptide (ETLDGQSINPKLAGL; Glu-Thr-Leu-Asp-Gly-Gln-Ser-Ile-Asn-Pro-Lys-Leu-Ala-Gly-Leu) derived from the prodomain region of the bone morphogenetic protein BMP7 (Lee JS et al, 2018). Upon osteogenic differentiation, bone marrow stromal cells treated with BFP-3 exhibit higher alkaline phosphatase activity and mineralization ability and significantly up-regulate the expression of osteogenic genes including osteocalcin, and transcription factors Osterix, and Runx2.
