[BEACH domains]
an acronym from two genes in which the domain was obserrved first: Beige, the product of the LYST [lysosomal trafficking regulator] gene in mice, and Chediak-Higashi syndrome 1 gene, the human counterpart of murine beige (Nagle et al, 1996). Proteins containing distinct BEACH sequences are found in mammalian sources (human and/or mouse), Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila melanogaster, fish (Fugu), plants (Arabidopsis), slime molds (Dictyostelium), and yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe).
