BAP31

[B-cell receptor-associated protein 31; BCR-associated protein 31] The approved gene symbol for BAP31 is BCAP31 [B-cell receptor-associated protein 31].

BAP31 has been identified as membrane proteins copurifying with membrane-bound immunoglobulin D and to a lesser extent with IgM (Kim et al, 1994). BAP31 is an evolutionary-conserved protein which is ubiquitously expressed in all tissues (Adachi et al, 1996). The human gene has been cloned independently by Mosser et al (1994) who referred to it as CDM. Li et al (1996) have referred to protein encoded by the cloned cDNA as 6C6 antigen and shown that it is over-expressed in breast cancer cells.
