[Bromo adjacent homology domain] This protein domain is called also ELM1 domain and BAM domain [Bromo adjacent motif domain]. The function of this domain is unknown but it may function as a protein-protein interaction motif.
The domain has been sugested to link DNA methylation, replication, and transcriptional regulation as it is found in a number of proteins involved in these processes, including eukaryotic DNA methyltransferases, origin recognition complex proteins, and soime proteins involved in regulation of transcription (Callebaut et al, 1999; Nicolas and Goodwin, 1996; Goodwin and Nicolas, 2001), which may involve gene silencing
